Norn selected for Antler ONE, Berlin residency begins 14 September

Company

Norn joins the Antler ONE programme and takes up the Berlin residency from 14 September 2026, adding a German operating base alongside Tallinn and Tartu.

Norn has been selected for the Antler ONE programme and will take up the Berlin residency, which begins on 14 September 2026.

What was decided

Antler selected Norn for Antler ONE following its assessment process, and Norn accepted a place on the Berlin residency. The residency starts on 14 September 2026 and runs from Antler's Berlin base, with the Norn team present in the city for the duration of the programme.

The company's registered seat does not move. Norn Labs remains an Estonian company incorporated in Tallinn, and the ESA BIC Estonia incubation in Tartu continues on its own timeline through June 2028. Berlin adds an operating base; it does not replace one.

What Antler is

Antler is an early-stage investor that runs residency programmes for founders in cities across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, and backs companies from the earliest point at which there is something to back. The residency format concentrates a cohort of founders in one place for a fixed period, with the investment decision taken at the end of it rather than the start.

For a company at Norn's stage, the value of that format is less about the capital than about the compression. A residency puts the commercial questions that a deeptech company can defer for years into a room with people whose job is to ask them now: who buys this, at what price, on what evidence, and what has to be true for the second customer to look like the first.

Why Berlin

Berlin is the largest concentration of early-stage capital in the German-speaking market, and Germany is where a meaningful share of Norn's institutional and industrial counterparties sit.

The Photrak consortium is the immediate case. Photrak is an orbital pulsed laser rangefinder targeting centimetre-precision tracking of space debris, and Norn coordinates the EIC Pathfinder Open consortium behind it together with Laser Zentrum Nord and LC Innoconsult. The optical and photonics work has a German centre of gravity, and so does much of the European supply chain that a ranging instrument eventually has to be built through.

Beyond the consortium, the German space and defence integrator base, the DLR ecosystem, and the operator community that Cadence sells into are all more accessible from Berlin than from anywhere else Norn could have taken a residency this autumn.

What this supports

Norn enters the programme with three work streams already running, and the residency is scoped against them rather than around them.

Cadence. Cadence is Norn's conjunction cost and compliance analytics platform for satellite operators, currently in private beta with a cohort of LEO operators across commercial, defence, and Earth observation segments, and the subject of an ESA EXPRO+ procurement in which Norn was shortlisted as a bidder. The residency is aimed squarely at the commercial motion around it: pricing, the shape of the first paid contracts, and the path from private beta to general availability.

Photrak. The EIC Pathfinder Open submission is in evaluation. The residency period is used for the industrial and commercial groundwork around the instrument, which is where proximity to the German photonics and space supply base matters most.

Sovereign orbital catalogue. The 2028+ product that builds on Photrak's ranging capability remains a business development and research effort during this period. It benefits from every conversation with an institutional buyer that the residency makes possible earlier than it would otherwise have happened.

How this fits with ESA BIC Estonia

The two programmes do different work and do not overlap.

ESA BIC Estonia is a 24-month institutional incubation running to June 2028, oriented toward the European space institutional environment: ESA, EUSPA, Member State agencies, and the intellectual property and technical posture required to operate credibly among them. It is patient, structured, and space-specific.

Antler ONE is a short, dense commercial programme oriented toward the venture question. It is fast, general, and investor-facing.

A deeptech company needs both kinds of pressure, and it is unusual to be able to sit inside both at once. Norn intends to use the difference rather than smooth it over.

What comes next

The residency begins on 14 September. Between now and then the work is unchanged: Cadence moves toward general availability with its beta cohort, the Photrak consortium waits on evaluation while preparing for the first milestone, and the ESA BIC work continues in Tartu.

We will use the newsroom to share what comes out of the programme once there is something substantive to report rather than something merely encouraging.

Acknowledgements

Thank you to the Antler team for the assessment process and for the place on the Berlin cohort.

Acknowledgement is due again to Sparkup Tartu Science Park and the ESA BIC Estonia consortium, whose programme runs in parallel and whose support made this year's institutional progress possible, and to the teams at Laser Zentrum Nord and LC Innoconsult, without whom the Photrak consortium would not exist.

Onward

Tallinn is where the company is registered. Tartu is where the institutional work sits. Berlin is where the commercial work goes next. The stack is the same in all three places, and so is the argument behind it: Europe should be able to see and act in its own orbits, on infrastructure it controls.
